The rigid copper clad laminate in which the fabric and the core material are composed of different reinforcing materials is called a composite base copper clad laminate. This type of copper clad laminate is mainly the CEM series of copper clad laminates in the NEMA/ANSI standard. In the CEM series, CEM-1 and CEM-3 are the most common varieties. In the early stage of the development and launch of CEM series composite matrix copper clad laminates, there is also a copper clad laminate with epoxy glass fiber paper as the reinforcement material and epoxy resin as the main material, which is called CEM-4.
The difference between CEM-4 and CEM-3 is in two aspects: the two outer sides of the board, without the non-flame retardant of epoxy fiberglass cloth like CEM-3.
